What it does
Pushes air at you and adds a fine mist, so the water evaporating off your skin pulls heat away. Works best in dry heat, especially in states such as Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, and anywhere inland.
What it doesn't
It won't cool a room and it isn't an air conditioner. In humid coastal weather the air is already saturated, so the mist has less to do. Buy it knowing that.
